toward a leadership practice that is more lively and fun

As a leader, you have the opportunity to bring people together. You can hire someone like me who will make sure the group uses their time together productively, but the way you invite them into the conversation and the way you set the frame by what you think is possible, will impact how they work together, what they aspire to, and what they are able to accomplish.

With this book, I want to send you on an exploration of your leadership and to inspire you to shape a more lively and connected way of leading.

Embark on a leadertrip

Does leading sometimes feel inauthentic like playing a role? Are you tired of position wrangling and the energy that goes into finding faults while the big issues remain untackled? Maybe you’re longing for a more meaningful way to engage with the people around you — for more togetherness, impact, progress, humanity, and joy?

If that’s your situation right now, it’s time to embark on an exploration guided by stories from other leaders. Let your mind wander, follow the writing prompts that invite you to reflect, dig deeper, and become bolder in defining your own way to lead. Along the way you’ll use the Leadertrip Log to capture your hopes, ambitions, feelings, challenges, and actions as a leader.

Simple and clear principles for shaping meaningful work complement the exploration and show paths toward a leadership practice that is more lively and fun.

A peek into the book

The Leadertrip Log guides the exploration and evolvement of your leadership by stories of other leaders as gateways into reflective spaces. Loosely paired with each story, the logbook invites deeper exploration with journaling prompts and space for notes. To this end, I've adapted a number of Liberating Structures for individual use - adapted in that they are actually intended for use in groups and for working with a counterpart. In the Leadertrip Log, the questions and the space on the page take on the role of the counterpart.
